Calling all raccoons...

As is only natural, I have a lot of raccoons on my Friends list. I'm hoping one of you can help me. I need a high resolution photograph of a real raccoon to use as a desktop on my computer at work. Something cute. What's in it for you? My undying gratitude. Plus a Gmail invite, if you want one. Please send it to:

kangaroos [at] gmail [dot] com

Or, if it's on the net, post a link to it in a comment. Thanks, everyone!

swiftrat: =:p

There's some good pics at http://www.corbis.com/ Register with them so you don't get the big CORBIS watermark on the images you want.

How about this one? http://raynox.com/actualimage/digital/e5400/e5400-dcr1850-raccoon.jpg ^^

Just go to Google's Image Search, click on "Advanced Search", and select "large" for the size (and enter "raccoon" as a search term, of course) - that turns up many.

Byron pointed that out to me (I should have realised that myself, of course.) but none of the photos were quite what I wanted. That photo you linked to was the front runner, though. This photo is the one I use currently, but it's too small.

So do you want a Gmail invite?

*snugs* Thanks... but I still have a few myself I'm trying to get rid of. ;)

Anyhow, how about this one? http://www.buenavistatownship.org/Photos/Raccoon.gif This one (http://www.lbpsb.qc.ca/~lindsayplace/Internet/Compress/raccoon.jpg) also looks nice (but may be too small).

I missed the first one, because I told Google to only show me full colour photos, but that one's just about gorgeous enough for me to use anyway. Raccoon photos are a very personal thing; I just haven't found one that tweaks my endorphins in just the right way.

*snugs* I'm glad you like that one. ^_^

Just take a picture of Ristin. Voilá!

Well... that's not exactly what I meant. But you can have a Gmail account too, if you want one!

One I've had in my collection for a while: Rush, available up to 1600x1200. There are some more in the parent "Fauna" category, though somewhat dominated by sealife and big cats, including a cute Stinky, and an utterly adorable ferret, Thor.

And for one that's not available randomly, taken by foofers, one rackety-coon engaged in a time-honored procyonid pastime. ^_^

Ooh, I like Rush! Well done. So, do you want a Gmail account?

It's a nice piece of photography - such close-ups seem quite difficult to come across, at least without resorting to professional image banks. I love the way his fur's so well defined.. and that beautifully pointy nose. ^_^

Ah, why not - I'll see what gmail's actually like. rabitguy seems quite taken by the methods it uses to present one's mailboxes, apparently somewhat different to the norm, though I'll have to see what browsers I can actually use to access it, and what external protocol(s) are supported.

Cool! But I'll need an email address to send the invitation to.
