Proud to be a rat!
I've been fairly bursting with rat pride lately. I've stood up for my species on Second Life, and I even defended the honour of scavengers at work today.
To celebrate, I made a "Proud to be Rat" montage today for my profile. It's intended as a sort of homage/tribute to Rose's "Proud to be a furry" sequence, also in my profile

Together we're sweeping away those hurtful stereotypes... well, one at a time.

There, there. No-one takes us dragons seriously either.

I noticed a bit of that bursting with rat pride yesterday, and I applaud! \^.^/_*
Have you checked for any rat-oriented groups on SL? Rabbits have the Bunny Rabbit Alliance which occasionally holds meetings to plan events, share carrot recipes, debate subjects like eudaimonic consequentialism vs. constant tail-chasing. If not, you should start one.

I'm still too timid to start one, but maybe I'm building up to it. The philosophy that if it makes you happy it's okay is fine by this rat, as long as it's tempered by the notion of not hurting others.

Oh no no! That's not it at all! Well, there was the vermin comment but that got smoothed over quickly enough. He didn't mean anything by it. It seems to me they like rats well enough on Second Life. Although it might be nice to be surrounded by my own kind on SL some time. I've been surrounded by rabbits and otters, and everyone's treated me well enough, but you do feel a bit like the odd one out. I palmed myself off as a water rat (with the help of otter oil) to better fit in with with the otters. ^_^
And thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

I would hate for you to think that Second Life is unwelcoming to ratties. I've been greeted with "Ratty!" by complete strangers, and I just love that.
And thanks for the links. Community joined and t-shirt proudly ordered.

Just don't let the addiction blind you to thinking things might always be rosy. After all, the heroin user doesn't care how much blood he spills as long as he gets his high. I'm just saying, BE CAREFUL. Because all it will take is some comment that can't be smoothed over, and not only will you leave SL, you'll quit LJ. I know you, Marko. So, caveat emptor and all that ...

Oh Cryo! I'm not as bad as all that! Sure, I've left LJ before (who hasn't?) but I've never anything I like permanently. You get knocked down and after a while you pick yourself up again. You of all people should understand that.

It's just what you've said about being fragile. I'm worried about you, that's all.

Ratties are cute. I've been one quite a few times hehehe. n.n

Proud to be a Rat, but listening to a song entitled "Human After All"?
Fri, Jul. 7th, 2006 02:57 am (UTC)
I was wondering if anyone would notice. :) That was an intentional ironic juxtaposition. And maybe I was trying to echo the phrase, "Rats are people too."

So it was a test! Do I win a prize for passing it?

No. You win kudos, though. I often listen to music just so I can list a certain song as being my current music.
