The closest I've come to a wild kangaroo

From Australian native animals

I went for a walk in a bushland reserve near my parents' house and I saw a wild kangaroo not five metres away from me! A handsome, healthy-looking buck who then bounded away.

I went for a walk too, but all I saw was this lousy groundhog...

I think groundhogs are pretty interesting too! In fact you can be sure I'd blog about it if I saw a wild one here!

Ditto if I see a kangaroo!

Awesome :) Roos always amuse me, as imagine what the Brits who came to Oz thought when they first saw these giant bouncing mice running around in the wild XD

Wow! That's so awesome. (Especially to a non-Australian, who's never seen them outside of a few zoos.) Looks like you got a really good view, too.

I really need to get to see an Eastern Grey close up one of these days.

They look a lot different to the ones over here in the west.

That's right! I hadn't thought of that. You need to come out east!

And just think, you'll see more roo's at FurDU. XD

Yes but they won't be wild, just a little cranky.

When I see your avatars I think of Nicodemus, and then I wondered what the hell a wild kangaroo is doing in the US.

Mon, Apr. 11th, 2011 05:08 am (UTC)

Really? I think our default avatars are pretty different, though we both keep a few Ratatouille-themed avatars in reserve. And there are some wild kangaroo and wallaby populations in America and Europe, but those are pretty few and far between. In fact, even in Australia, I think myself lucky that there's still a colony of kangaroos so close to my parents' house.

Yup. I see rat and I think Nico. I suppose it's just because I've known him for so long.

That's really neat. *smiles* I wonder if I'll ever get a chance to see wild 'roos in my life.

Seen plenty of them in the Botanical Gardens, in Canberra, just lounging in the shade of the trees.. they were not tamed at all, but we managed to got really near..

Also i was able to feed a few wild ones in Tasmania... they are completely free on this reserve and quite curious on what good food you might have in your pockets...
