Talk about the weather; avoid politics

I love it! I'm in Brisbane, a week and a half from summer, and I can complain about being cold. There's hope for Ristin yet.

We must now find ways of deporting you to the northern hemisphere. Grr. :)

(Which would, I admit, have the benefit of quite a few furs being able to meet you)

*rolls eyes*

Marko, the last time I checked, it was 21 deg C in Brisbane. And you call that COLD? Mild, maybe, but certainly not cold.

Jesus, you Aussies have NO idea what REAL cold is, do you? I've walked around in short-sleeved shirts at 9 deg C. You'd probably die from hypothermia if you did that!

In fact, have you even FELT 9 C before???

Hey - that is cold ;)

We got down to nearly 3 C on one night this winter - I nearly had to set up the electric blanket!

I resemble that remark! I have too felt 9 C before! Why just this morning I stuck my hand in the fridge. I came from Finland originally, so I'm certainly no stranger to sub zero temperatures. The fact that I left when I was three so I couldn't possibly remember it has no bearing on the matter. :P And I'll have you know I've been to Melbourne in the winter time and I've frozen my tail off! Why, I even had to go skulking into a supermarket to buy thermal underwear. (I'm not sure you can even buy that in Brisbane.) That was so humiliating! And the last time I visited Ristin, he had to loan me a coat to protect me from the wind because none of my clothing was up to the job. (I don't think I'm helping my case here.) So, yes, I have felt 9˚ Celsius before.

At the end of the way, Risty, you have palm trees in Melbourne. Big ol' date palms. So honestly, just how cold does it REALLY get if you're able to have palms?

We have cabbage palms in London, and even in Boston we have evergreen magnolias and azaleas, but shit ... you won't find palms there!

Marko - I soooo love that song - you going to see them when they are in town on the 15th?

I didn't even know they were playing. I only discovered them today and I'm not sure if I like them or not yet, but I'm keeping an open mind. I think I need to hear more of their stuff.

Speaking of cold, maybe you should try minus 30 degrees celsius like we get in TO sometimes. Now that's cold!
